Rochills have a close links with Ashley school and have sponsored the Quiz event to assist Year 6 with their trip to Chamonix.
On Monday 27th June the second of two Year 6 groups from Ashley Primary set of on an extraordinary journey. This bunch of 11 year olds are travelling across France to Chamonix for one of the schools greatly valued Sustainability Themes.
Another year 6 class has just returned from their trip to Chamonix where they had an amazing time. After an epic journey via coach, train, Eurostar, metro, train and finally coach again, the young travellers reached their destination in the stunning Chamonix valley where Mont Blanc takes up just one of the views.
Here they began a journey of a different kind – one of self discovery. By climbing 30 metre high rock faces and enduring a 5 hour trek of constant incline in 30 degree heat, they tested their physical, mental and emotional limits. In doing so, they also learned what they need to be well, and what their team needs to be well.
Finally, having tested themselves and their team, the children learned what the world needs to be well. Learning about how human behaviour has changed the world in such magical surroundings helps the children feel close to nature and they want to preserve it. They come home as Leaders in Sustainability armed with new knowledge about themselves and the world. Sending sixty children across France to stay in Chamonix and learn to become Leaders in Sustainability is an incredibly ambitious adventure. In order for every child to go on such a wonderful trip, Ashley School needed some help in funding. Rochills Estate Agents on Walton High Street gladly agreed to sponsor the project. Marcel Roccia explains; “We are a family run business and value our place in the community. When we heard that Ashley needed help for this marvellous journey of discovery we were happy to oblige.”
